EDU 626 Inclusive Classroom Strategies
Course Artifact: Integration Plan for New Student with Cerebral Palsy
The artifact that best represents the course EDU 626 Inclusive Classroom Strategies is an inclusion plan for a hypothetical situation - a student with Cerebral Palsy who recently enrolled at Bayfield High School. This plan includes an in-depth outline of steps taken to ensure that Bill Porter receives instruction in the least restrictive environment. Topics discussed within the plan entail details of Cerebral Palsy awareness and education to staff and students, Bill's strengths, interests, capabilities and limitations, barriers to the regular education setting, modifications, accommodations, social acceptance plans, as well as highlighting a few local outside agencies that will help ensure Bill's success after high school. As a large component of EDU 626, the Universal Design for Learning was integrated into this plan as a strategy for regular education teachers to utilize while Bill learns in their classroom. This plan reflects the strengths of the learner (Bill) and embraces those strengths so that Bill can be challenged with academic rigor while allowed the opportunity for the same social growth that each student deserves.
