EDU 621 Classroom Management and Positive Behavior Practices
Course Artifact: Behavior Intervention Plan
The artifact that best represents the course EDU 621 is a Behavior Intervention Plan that is specifically designed for a case study student by using all of the necessary methods of gathering information prior to developing this plan. This plan highlights the unique behavioral needs of this student within and outside of the classroom while emphasizing and addressing proactive steps in handling the behavior before and after it has occurred. Prior to developing the behavior plan, a Functional Behavioral Assessment was completed to the best of my ability that included a mock interview of the student. Conducting an FBA (Functional Behavioral Assessment) places emphasis on identifying cognitive and/or environmental factors that give reason to the occurrence of a specific behavior. The FBA is conducted to understand why a student may partake in a specific behavior in order to observe future antecedents to that same behavior. Once it is understood why that student participates in that specific behavior, a Behavior Intervention Plan can be written specifically for that student and their behavior(s). The plan that I have provided exhibits the student's strengths while highlighting behavior antecedents and evidence-based positive behavior interventions. This plan showcases the time spent on learning all components of analyzing behavior, conducting a Functional Behavioral Assessment, and applying learning outcomes to writing the Behavior Intervention Plan.
